COVID 19 RELIEF WORK

The COVID-19 pandemic was one of the most severe crises the world has faced in this century. It resulted in an unprecedented loss of human life and created immense challenges for public health systems, food security, livelihoods, and the global economy. Governments, NGOs, and countless individuals came together during this difficult period, extending support through food distribution, medical aid, COVID shelters, and welfare schemes to protect human life.

However, while society was mobilizing to safeguard people and economic stability, one vulnerable section was largely overlooked—animals, particularly livestock. Countless cows, bulls, horses, dogs, sheep, and goats were left stranded on streets with little or no care. Even animal shelters and NGOs faced extreme distress due to acute shortages of fodder and resources, putting thousands of animals at risk of starvation.

During this challenging time, when most of the world remained confined indoors, the volunteers of WAHTS FOUNDATION took a bold and compassionate initiative. Risking their own safety, they organized and executed a large-scale free fodder distribution drive, supplying more than 80 tons of fodder to street and needy animals—especially cows—across Bangalore and surrounding regions, including extensive distribution near Kollegala. This effort ensured survival and relief for animals during the harshest months of lockdown.

The initiative received encouragement and support from various well-wishers and organizations, including Avon Plastic Pvt. Ltd., Maruti Medicals, Helping Hands (Be Good, Do Good), and many compassionate individuals. Their contributions played a vital role in making this large humanitarian and animal-welfare effort possible.

The significance of this service was further recognized when Ms. Malavika Avinash, actress and Chairperson of the COVID-19 Warrior Task Force, personally visited the fodder distribution sites and expressed her appreciation for the work carried out. She was joined by Major Pradeep Shourya Arya, IRS Officer and Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, who also personally visited and actively participated in the fodder distribution. Their presence and encouragement deeply motivated the volunteers and highlighted the importance of protecting animals during humanitarian crises.

This initiative stands as a powerful reminder that true compassion extends beyond human welfare, embracing all living beings. The WAHTS FOUNDATION fodder distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that service to animals—especially Mother cows—is an essential part of a humane and responsible society.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to all supporters, volunteers, and well-wishers who stood together and made this Herculean task a success, serving with dedication, courage, and compassion during one of the darkest phases of recent history.
