Srila Prabhupada Gurukul, R R Nagar

Srila Prabhupada Gurukul, R. R. Nagar nurtures young minds through value-based education inspired by the ancient Gurukul system, integrating spiritual training with regular academic education. Currently guiding 15 students, the Gurukul emphasizes discipline, devotion, and strong moral character alongside scholastic learning. Through daily spiritual practices, character-building routines, and focused academics, the Gurukul prepares children to face life with wisdom, humility, responsibility, and deep Krishna consciousness, shaping them into balanced individuals rooted in timeless values.

Srila Prabhupada Gurukul, R. R. Nagar is a value-based educational institution rooted in the ancient Gurukul tradition, where education is meant not merely for earning a livelihood, but for building strong character, discipline, humility, and devotion to God. Inspired by the teachings and vision of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, the Gurukul provides a nurturing environment where children grow into responsible, God-conscious individuals.

At present, the Gurukul lovingly cares for and educates 15 students. As of now, this Gurukul is dedicated exclusively to orphaned and semi-orphaned children, ensuring that no monetary admission fees are charged, so that lack of financial support never becomes a barrier to value-based education. The institution follows a holistic education model that integrates spiritual training with regular academic schooling, offering children both inner strength and practical knowledge.

For formal academics, students attend Carmel Public School, Kengeri, where they pursue their regular studies from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Alongside this, the Gurukul provides structured spiritual and character education, creating a balanced foundation for both material responsibility and spiritual growth.

The daily routine begins with Mangala Arati at 5:00 AM, followed by Hare Krishna mantra japa meditation, yoga sessions, and go-seva. Children actively serve the cows by milking, administering medicine, and assisting in their care, cultivating compassion, responsibility, and gratitude. They always wear simple Vedic attire and partake only in Krishna prasadam, reinforcing purity in lifestyle and consciousness.

Students receive training in Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Sanskrit, moral values, and devotional practices. They learn mridanga, kartals, and devotional singing, and regularly perform during various aratis and temple programs, building confidence, discipline, and devotional expression.

Evenings are thoughtfully planned: 5:00–5:30 PM Sanskrit classes, 5:30–6:30 PM academic subject coaching, followed by playtime and evening aratis. Children are also trained in basic cooking, cleanliness, teamwork, and other extracurricular life skills, supporting all-round development.

Sundays are reserved for special camps and interactions conducted by visiting devotees, broadening the children’s exposure to spiritual learning and community life. Their education is further enriched through pilgrimages; recently, the students undertook spiritually uplifting yatras to Ahobilam and Avani Betta, deepening their appreciation for sacred history and devotion.

Srila Prabhupada emphasized the true purpose of education:

“The real purpose of education is to understand God and our relationship with Him.”
— Lecture on Bhagavad-gita 7.1, Bombay, 1971

Teachers at the Gurukul serve not merely as instructors, but as mentors and guides, shaping students through personal example. The emphasis remains on character over competition, wisdom over mere information, and service over selfish ambition.

Srila Prabhupada further assures:

“If one becomes a devotee of Krishna, all good qualities automatically develop.”
— Srimad Bhagavatam 5.18.12, Purport

Srila Prabhupada Gurukul, R. R. Nagar thus stands as a beacon of hope for children in need and for families seeking an education system that nurtures wise, disciplined, compassionate, and God-conscious future leaders, grounded in timeless Vedic wisdom and loving care.
